About TV Size Chart

How to choose TV size and viewing distance?

Choosing the right TV size and viewing distance depends on several factors, including screen resolution, room size, and personal preference. Here’s a guide to help you decide:

1. TV Size Based on Viewing Distance.

A general rule is that your viewing distance should be about 1.5 to 2.5 times the diagonal screen size of the TV for an optimal experience.
Regarding TV size and viewing distance, see the table above.
For 1080p TVs: Sitting too close may reveal pixelation.
For 4K TVs: You can sit closer (~1–1.5x screen height) without losing clarity due to higher resolution.
For 8K TVs: You can sit even closer (~0.75x screen height).

2. Consider Room Size & Layout.

Small rooms (e.g., bedrooms) → 40"–55"
Medium rooms (e.g., living rooms) → 55"–65"
Large rooms/open spaces → 65"–85"+
Home theaters → Projectors or 75"+ TVs

3. TV Height & Eye Level.

The center of the TV should be at eye level when seated (~42" from the floor for most sofas).
If wall-mounted above a fireplace, consider a tilting mount to reduce neck strain.

4. Field of View & Immersion.

For a cinematic experience, aim for a 30°–40° field of view (closer seating).
For casual viewing, a 20°–30° field of view is comfortable.

5. Personal Preference & Usage.

Gaming: A larger screen with a closer distance enhances immersion (especially for 4K/120Hz TVs).
Sports/Movies: Bigger screens with wider viewing angles improve the experience.
Mixed use (TV, streaming, gaming): Balance size and resolution (4K is ideal for 55" and above).

For a balanced experience, Reference experience:
Minimum distance = TV height × 1.5
Maximum distance = TV height × 2.5
